TAFE Outreach programs are closely aligned to the Federal Social Inclusion Agenda ensuring NSW education is accessible to people who face barriers to learning including geographical and social isolation, language and cultural factors, financial hardship, lack of educational confidence, being unaware of opportunities to learn, a disability or family commitments.

Program

As this is an introductory course, the participants met a couple of times with the teacher and the centre coordinator to discuss the content, the process and the outcomes of the program. Basic tools of the trade, various steps of creating an organic garden by selecting the location, the seeds and seedlings, and growing to harvesting are included in the course.
One goal is that by the end of the course, the participants would be able to grow their own backyard gardens or community gardens in the centre. They will also be made aware and encouraged to explore the opportunities to further develop their skills in horticulture by enrolling in Certificate level courses in other TAFE colleges.
